I have always been frustrated with mechanical, single-dimensional grading. This kind of assessment seldom produces growth. Instead, it reinforces the “game” of college, rather than the growth that comes from feedback and engagement. This is especially important, as AI tools can do all the work of a college student, leading to grade inflation and eroding mentorship, which is a cornerstone of meaningful teaching and learning.
